CLIPPERS LISTLESS IN LATEST LOSS HOUSTON 108, CLIPPERS 90.

Byline: Joe Stevens Staff Writer

There wasn't much drama in the Clippers' loss Monday. There weren't many Clippers highlights. It was simply a blowout.

As they fight for the eighth - and final - playoff spot in the Western Conference, the Houston Rockets did what they had to do. They pounded the Clippers with a 108-90 victory in front of 19,060 at Staples Center This articlearticle or section has multiple issues:

With the Phoenix Suns (36-34) losing to the Seattle SuperSonics The Seattle SuperSonics (or simply Sonics) are an American professional basketball team based in Seattle, Washington. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Their mascot's name is Squatch.  on Monday, the Rockets (37-33) moved one game ahead of the Suns for the eighth playoff spot.

The Clippers (22-48) lost their second consecutive game and remain in the Pacific Division's basement. With 12 games left, the only hope the Clippers have of not finishing last in the Pacific is to win all of their remaining games and watch the Sonics (33-36) lose all of theirs.

The Rockets won short-handed and in the second of back-to-back games.

Larry W. Smith (born 1951 in Hudson, Quebec) is a Canadian athlete and businessperson. He is currently the president of the Montreal Alouettes.
has been Houston's acting head coach, and his job appeared pretty easy Monday. As James Posey James Mikely Mantell Posey, Jr. (born January 13 1977 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American professional basketball player, currently playing small forward for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association.  made 5 of 6 3-point shots in the first half and scored 19 points, Smith didn't need to give major minutes to his budding stars, Steve Francis and Yao Ming.

Francis played just 24 minutes, and Yao was in there for 20.

The Clippers didn't really have a silver lining, but Lamar Odom scored a season-high 30 points and had 10 rebounds.

James Posey scored 23 points and Eddie Griffin added 16 points for Houston, which shot 12 of 20 (60 percent) from 3-point range.
