CLIPPERS EMBARRASSED BY LOWLY GOLDEN STATE WOEFUL SHOOTING IN THIRD QUARTER GIVES IT AWAY.

Byline: Associated Press

Antawn Jamison had 24 points and 12 rebounds and John Starks returned from the injured list to score 20 points as the Golden State Warriors humiliated the Clippers 107-76 on Tuesday at Staples Center.

Donyell Marshall added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Warriors, who enjoyed their most lopsided victory of the season despite entering the game with the worst record in the Western Conference. It was their fourth victory in six games following an 11-game losing streak.

Tyrone Nesby scored 20 points for the Clippers, which lost for the 15th time in 17 games following a season-best three-game winning streak. The loss was their 10th this season by 20 or more points.

The Clippers, who won their previous three games against the Warriors by a combined margin of eight points, made only 4 of 22 shots in the third quarter as Golden State built a 73-51 lead.

Starks, who missed the Warriors' previous nine games because of tendinitis in his right knee, hit 3-pointers on both ends of an 11-2 run that increased their six-point halftime lead to 59-44 with 9 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter.

Starks' fourth and final 3-pointer of the game gave the Warriors their biggest lead, 80-53, with 9:36 remaining. The Clippers got no closer than 19 points after that.

--Seattle 104, Utah 96: Gary Payton scored 35 points and Vin Baker had a season-high 33 to lead the visiting SuperSonics.

Karl Malone led Utah with 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Bryon Russell added 19 points. Utah has lost four in a row for the first time since January 1997.

--Portland 92, Chicago 81: Brian Grant scored 19 points as Portland beat visiting Chicago to move atop the NBA overall standings, one-half game ahead of the Lakers.

Rasheed Wallace, selected to the All-Star team for the first time in his career, added 14 points and nine rebounds for Portland. Elton Brand led the Bulls with 22 points and eight rebounds.

--Philadelphia 101, Dallas 100: Allen Iverson scored 29 points, including two free throws with 17.1 seconds left that capped a rally for the visiting 76ers.

Theo Ratliff had a season-high 25 points and added 13 rebounds for the 76ers. Cedric Ceballos led the Mavericks with 26 points and 12 rebounds, and Michael Finley had 21 points.

--Houston 99, Charlotte 83: Cuttino Mobley scored 23 points, including seven in a row in a crucial fourth-quarter stretch for host Houston.

Steve Francis added 22 points and eight assists for the Rockets. Eddie Jones had 20 points for the Hornets, 1-10 in their last 11 road games.

--Indiana 99, Boston 96: Rik Smits had a season-high 26 points to help the Pacers' extend their home winning streak to 16 games.

Antoine Walker led the Celtics with 27 points but was only 11 of 27 from the field.

Indiana was 24 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Boston was 7 for 12.

--Cleveland 112, Washington 108: Darrell Walker, part-owner Michael Jordan's second choice to coach Washington, lost his debut on the road with the Wizards.

Shawn Kemp, left off the East's All-Star team, led the Cavaliers with 28 points - 26 in the second half - and 12 rebounds. Danny Ferry added a season-high 18 points.

Tracy Murray led the Wizards with 23 points.

Walker became the Wizards interim head coach Monday, two days after Gar Heard was fired. Walker, who was coaching Rockford in the CBA, got his second NBA head coaching job because Jordan's first choice, Golden State assistant Rod Higgins, fell through.

--Orlando 98, New York 77: Chucky Atkins tied his career-high with 22 points as Orlando's reserves led the Magic past host New York.

The Magic played with only nine healthy players, having traded Tariq Abdul-Wahad and Chris Gatling to Denver earlier in the day for Ron Mercer, Chauncey Billups and Johnny Taylor.

Marcus Camby led New York with 23 points.
