CLINTON HEADED THE RIGHT WAY, AFL-CIO SAYS

WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- AFL-CIO President Lane Kirkland had the following comment on President Clinton's health care message today:
The President has pointed the nation in the right direction with the health care reform strategy he outlined this morning.
We hope and expect to be able to give the president's plan our full support when we see the details next month.
And we expect a tough fight.
Workers and their unions have been watching our costly, inefficient health care system eat up their wages and their employer's resources. We don't expect the profiteers and chiselers to give up their advantage without a battle.
This battle will pit workers, their unions and employers who pay their fair share against the congressional gridlock artists who resist all change.
