``This is a unique partnership between Antelope Valley Heath Care System and Los Angeles County to bring health care to an underserved area,'' said Paul Allemeier, Antelope Valley Hospital's vice president of planning, marketing and development.

Antelope Valley Hospital and the county opened the partnership's first clinic in January 1998 at 15th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard, and the second one in Lake Los Angeles, at 16921 E. Ave. O, in May 1999.

Antelope Valley Hospital and county officials held a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony Friday at the clinic, which opened Oct. 19.

Antelope Valley Hospital is leasing 3,200 square feet in the single-story commercial building from Scattaglia-Crystalaire packers for $46,080 a year for five years and subleasing the space to the county at no charge.

Antelope Valley Hospital also paid for $32,000 of the $152,000 worth of work done to convert the former bank to a clinic. The landlord paid the rest.
