IRELAND'S magnificent Cliffs of Moher Coordinates:

The Cliffs of Moher (Irish: Aillte an Mhothair, lit.
 has moved a step closer to being named one of the new seven natural wonders This article is about the television series. For other Seven Wonders, see Wonders of the World (disambiguation).

Seven Natural Wonders was a television series that aired on BBC Two from 3 May to 20 June 2005.
 of the world.

The breathtaking Co Clare cliffs are now in with a onein-four-chance of getting the title after making it to the finals.

It is up against 27 other places of beauty around the world having seen off the challenge of 49 other contenders in the latest round of voting.

Of the 77 eligible entries, which were identified from the original 440, have been whittled down by a panel of experts.

The third and final phase of voting is now underway with people again able to vote for the cliffs.

The winners will be chosen by an estimated 1 billion votes. Polls will continue throughout next year to 2011 when the official declaration of the seven wonders of nature will be revealed.

Director of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience Katherine Webster said: "We believe this magnificent and unique place truly deserves natural wonder status and are overjoyed it has been recognised as one of the 28 most spectacular feats of nature on earth.

"We are very optimistic that the cliffs can go all the way."
