:CLIX) and VideoServer, Inc., (NASDAQ:VSVR) today announced a demonstration of a standards-compliant gateway that joins CLI's ISDN- based videoconferencing systems to videoconferencing systems running over LANs via the VideoServer gateway. The demonstration occurred at TeleCon XVI, Anaheim, CA, Oct. 29-31.

By using two different international standards, H.320 and H.323, the gateway solution clearly shows the interoperability enabling desktop videoconferencing Using a PC or Mac for a videophone session or videoconference. Contrast with a "room videoconferencing system" where a group of participants congregate in one room. See videoconferencing.  systems running on LANs to communicate with all videoconferencing systems that run on H.320.

The CLI Desktop Video, Eclipse Gold Mid-range Room videoconferencing system, and high performance Radiance videoconferencing systems all comply with H.320. By using the VideoServer gateway these ISDN-based systems can now communicate over LANs as well.
