It provides users with virtually all of the equipment and software needed for local or remote meetings in one interface -- along with the benefits of Internet access, an advanced PC platform running Microsoft Windows 95, software applications including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Internet Explorer See Internet Explorer. , plus multipoint-ready videoconferencing capability and a number of other innovative features.

"Technology convergence and market demand are the driving forces behind the development of lunar," said Bill Rary, Marketing Vice President at Compression Labs. "Today many market sectors are looking for Looking for

"Users also want a meeting solution with integrated data collaboration and multimedia capabilities all in one device. lunar offers this today in a complete package of decision-support features that results in substantial resource savings by reducing a company's investment in traditional hardware (PC, fax, whiteboard, overhead projector, speakerphones, etc.) and software while making meetings more productive," Rary added.

lunar utilizes international H.320 and T.120 standards to deliver quality video, audio and data to all meetings and sites. The power of data collaboration is achieved with a simple, one-button T.120 connection. lunar provides compatibility with T.120-compliant DataBeam FarSite software at remote locations enabling users to meet and work together interactively through application sharing, shared whiteboarding and file transfer activities.

"We are excited that Compression Labs is choosing Microsoft applications to enhance their videoconferencing package," said Kevin Unangst, product manager for the applications and Internet client group at Microsoft. "Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Windows 95 combined with their lunar technologies provides the comprehensive, integrated solution CLI customers are looking for."

lunar provides a broad range of communications supporting transmission speeds from 56 kbps to 768 kbps, local and wide area networking and a uniquely-designed, easy-to-use meeting interface that includes a wireless keyboard with track ball as well as on-screen on·screen or on-screen

Information can be quickly exchanged among users through CLI's ConferenceWare, allowing them to easily establish and participate in meetings at different locations. Data can be conveniently accessed from a corporate LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  or retrieved from the Internet, World Wide Web sites or from other PC applications. Users at remote locations, or on the road, can conference with lunar by phone, via cellular, by using a notebook and modem, or through a LAN connection.

"We combined a wide range of frequently-used business tools in the lunar meeting system so that groups can utilize a single, all-in-one device throughout the day, not just for videoconferencing sessions alone," added Greg Bell, New Business Products Director. "For example, lunar permits users at one site to establish the meeting, review a budget, connect to the Internet, discuss the project with a group at the far end, come to a decision and close the meeting. Groups can work off line before and after the joint meeting employing multiple wireless keyboards for greater team participation. When one party to a videoconference link wishes to zoom in on a chart, graph or object at the distant point, they can adjust the camera and other system controls at the far end from their location. It is even possible to add an equivalent electronic signature to a document to confirm a deal or sign off on a proposal."

Other lunar features include a PC with an Intel-based 133 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock.
