North Hollywood and El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

had the same game plan Thursday night in their nonconference game at Canoga Park.

Run the ball.

North Hollywood used All-City running back Dante Clay and El Camino countered with junior Quincy Wright Philip Quincy Wright (28 December 1890 – 17 October 1970) was an American political scientist known for his pioneering work and expertise in international law and international relations. .

Clay won the battle and the war with 270 yards in 24 carries to lead the Huskies past the Conquistadores 20-19 in a game the ended much like the last two meetings.

The two teams played a long hard fought game last season, playing to a 20-20 tie, and El Camino Real prevailed 21-18 in 1994.

El Camino Real almost pulled out the win late in the fourth quarter. North Hollywood faced a fourth-and-23 with the ball on its own 45-yard line. ``I don't think my guy was clipping,'' El Camino Real coach Bob Ganssle said. ``Their guy was just running after Quincy (Wright) and tripped. My guys don't even know how to do something like that. If they did, then it's amazing a·maze

North Hollywood used its wing-T offense to keep the ball moving. Huskies coach Gary Gray kept the Conquistador conquistador (kŏnkwĭs`tədôr, Span. kōng-kē'stäthôr`), military leader in the Spanish conquest of the New World in the 16th cent.  coaching staff guessing all night rotating the ball between Clay and Harlow (who finished with 33 yards in 12 carries).

``They were blitzing us a lot and we had to do different things to keep our offense moving,'' Gray said. ``We know Dante is a marked man and they just kept going at him.''

Nothing stopped Clay. He opened the scoring for the Huskies in the first quarter, breaking four tackles in an 83-yard touchdown run. Clay ran circles around the Conquistador defense again in the third quarter, this time turning around at the line of scrimmage line of scrimmage

, cutting back and breaking six tackles for a 56-yard score, putting the Huskies up 20-6.

El Camino Real couldn't get its star running back, Wright, into the offense until the second half. Wright carried the ball only three times for 60 yards but scored a key touchdown with just over eight minutes to play to pull the Conquistadores to within a touchdown at 20-13.

``They just keyed on me and we had to go to J.D. (Sumlin, who finished with 71 yards on six carries),'' Wright said. ``I can understand what Clay has to go through. They changed their defense in the second half and I got a chance to score.''

El Camino Real quarterback Aaron Fredette connected with junior Eric Berrenson for a 27-yard score to pull the Conquistadores within 20-19. They failed on the two-point conversion In American football and Canadian football, a team may try to score a two-point conversion (score two points) instead of an extra point (one point) immediately after it scores a touchdown. . Fredette was 8 for 13 for 146 yards and Berrenson finished with 117 yards on five catches.
