CLAUSEN AND CO. SHOW NO RUST DEFENDING CHAMPS UTILIZE BIG PLAYS TO RECORD SHUTOUT OAKS CHRISTIAN 49, LOMPOC 0.

Byline: KEVIN CONNELLY Kevin Connelly was born in Middlesbrough, England. He is an impressionist comedian, and after dinner speaker and is probably most famous for his role on the popular BBC television programme 'Dead Ringers'.  Special to the Daily News

LOMPOC -- The most publicized prep athlete this side of LeBron James LeBron James (born December 30 1984) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).  and the kid with the million-dollar right arm officially is back in action.

Jimmy Clausen James Richard "Jimmy" Clausen (born September 21, 1987, in Thousand Oaks, California[3]) is an American football player. He is a quarterback at the University of Notre Dame.  made sure to hammer that point home Friday night at Lompoc High.

-- the senior quarterback from Oaks Christian High of Westlake Village insists -- there was the Lions' commanding 49-0 victory over talented but significantly overmatched Lompoc.

``It feels really good to be back after everything that went on last summer,'' said Clausen, a Notre Dame recruit and the No. 1 rated senior in the nation according to rivals.com.

``We're a team that prides itself on coming out to play every day, and we definitely did that today. The motivation now is to try and get even better.''

Clausen finished 11 of 19 for 201 yards, four touchdows and an interception before being pulled midway through the second half.

The 6-foot-3, 208-pound quarterback, who completed six passes for 80 yards to top receiver Sean Wiser, now has 100 touchdowns in his four-year Lions career.

But while Clausen and Wiser dominated through the air, USC-bound running back Marc Tyler was equally as impressive on the ground.

Tyler, who finished with 44 touchdowns last year, rushed for 230 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries.

``With Jimmy playing like he did today, it made everything a lot easier,'' said Tyler, who added a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown from his linebacker position.

``Teams may be able to key on one of us and limit us there at times, but it's nearly impossible to stop both of us.

``We still have a lot to improve on, though. For me personally, I want to use this year to improve my speed, so I'm competing for the starting job when I leave (for USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. ).''

The Braves, runner-up in Southern Section Div. X last season, were held to less than 50 yards of total offense. Quarterback Tim Ochoa was intercepted by Tyler, Oregon- bound Anthony Gildon, and USC-bound Marshall Jones.

Oaks Christian, the three- time defending Southern Section Div. XI champions, extended its Southern Section best active winning streak to 32 games. The streak is the second-longest active mark in the state.
