Gov. Gray Davis' ``town hall'' meeting Wednesday night in Hollywood was taped and edited for students to see Thursday in school by Channel One, the educational network that beams its programs to millions of students in classrooms around the country.

The network hopes to hold similar events with some of the major candidates in coming weeks, though it has no firm commitments yet.

``We are going to approach the other candidates about a similar sort of opportunity,'' said Morgan Morgan, American family of financiers and philanthropists.

The network does not have any contracts with state government. Its programming is provided by direct contract with school districts throughout the country and its revenue comes from advertising shown during breaks in programming.

Davis plans to hold other town-hall events organized by other groups throughout the state in coming weeks.
