Police said Roth and Oliver died instantly Friday afternoon when the 1997 red Camaro that Lee was driving collided with a pickup during an apparent illegal street race on La Tuna Canyon Road - less than a mile from their school.

``I'll never forget: 10-1-04,'' said Mark Sy, 17, a running back for the Village Christian Crusaders. ``Everybody in this school will remember that day. ... It's like losing brothers.''

School memorial services are expected to be held Wednesday and before the team's Saturday game against Montclair Prep. Players plan to wear stickers on their helmets to honor the two teens.

The crash occurred about 30 minutes before players were supposed to meet on campus for a pregame, home-cooked meal. They were then going to take buses to Kennedy High School for their first home game of the season against Pasadena Poly.

After word of the accident spread, the game was canceled and the team rode the bus instead to Holy Cross, where Lee was fighting for his life.
