CLASSES CLEARED DUE TO ODD ODOR : PEPPER SPRAY BLAMED IN SCARE.

Twenty-two Hoover High School Hoover High School may refer to any of the following:
  • Hoover High School (Alabama), Hoover, Alabama, made famous by the MTV show Two-A-Days
  • Hoover High School, North Canton, Ohio
  • Hoover High School, Glendale, CA
 students were sent to local hospitals Wednesday after a student released pepper spray in a classroom, fire officials said.

The students were transported to the hospitals after complaining of nausea, watery eyes or scratchy throats. All were treated and released.

The pepper spray - its chemical name is oleoresin oleoresin /oleo·res·in/ (o?le-o-rez´in)

School officials had asked for an air quality check after a teacher reported a strange odor in an English classroom. Eventually, 10 classrooms were evacuated and nearly 100 students were examined by rescue personnel.

Police and firefighters spent hours trying to determine the source of the smell. It was not until late afternoon that students told school officials that pepper spray had been released in the room.

A male 12th-grade student who allegedly set off the pepper spray was suspended. The 12th-grade girl who brought the pepper spray, an illegal substance forbidden on school campuses, also was suspended. Both face expulsion, said Glendale Unified School District The Glendale Unified School District is a school district based in Glendale, California, United States.

The school district serves the city of Glendale, portions of the city of La Cañada and the unincorporated communities of Montrose and La Crescenta.
