CLASS TO FOCUS ON ADOPTION OUTSIDE U.S. INTERNATIONAL EXPERT TO VISIT COLLEGE.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - College of the Canyons' extension program will offer a parenting class of a different kind Saturday - a three-hour course dedicated to the adoption of orphans from around the world, covering issues from foreign policies to cross-cultural issues.

Hemlata Momaya founded Bal Jagat-Children's World in 1983, facilitating more than 1,000 international adoptions since then. The Calabasas-based nonprofit adoption agency director will teach the one-day class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

``We have families in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  who have adopted children from China, Russia, India - all over,'' Momaya said. ``This is different than just a parenting class. This is an information class.''

Jennifer Hauss, director of the college's Community Extension, said Momaya's experience is a welcome addition to the area.

``She travels internationally and works directly with agencies around the world,'' Hauss said. ``This is such a child-centered valley that we thought it might be of interest to people.''

International adoption subjects such as medical and psychological issues, orphanage ORPHANAGE, Eng. law.
