The ARC building had not been painted since the organization acquired the facility six years ago. As a small, not-for-profit agency, the ARC lacked the resources to have the building painted. A local volunteer helped in power-washing the exterior and prepping it for painting. On Sept. 23, Rotaract club members spent a good part of the day applying paint to the boards and finished half-way up two sides of the building. More work was completed on a second Saturday, with assistance from some Putnam and Danielson Rotary members. "We hope to be able to finish the entire first story of the building for the ARC," said Jarrod Hebert of Woodstock, president of the Rotaract Club. Participating in the project were Mr. Hebert, Treasurer Nick Mainville of Brooklyn, Lexie Hayes of Putnam, Christopher Stevens of Woodstock, Art Caudill of Moosup, and Secretary Gabe Hall Gabe Hall (born on October 1, 1983 in Lubbock, Texas) is a former American football offensive lineman for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. Kane of Sturbridge wanted was the see her name on the cover of her own novel. Now, her dream has come true. Alison's novel, "The Cost of Living," was released on Aug. 30 through Lulu.com, an online publishing service. The novel follows the lives of six close friends throughout their high school years as they grow and learn together what true friendship means and the importance of being true to yourself. "I'm so proud of it, so much more than anything else I have written because I believe so strongly in the characters," said Alison. "My friends and family are so excited to read it and find out what I have been working on for so long. I feel like J.K. Rowling or something!" Alison completed her first story while she was a student in fourth grade. Many of her stories have grown from school assignments in which she "fell in love with the characters and the world" she created, she said.
