Inspector Linda Buller said in her report: "Parents are rightly proud of the experiences provided for their children and are very supportive of the school. "As one parent commented, 'My three children love going to school and I feel the best is brought out in each of them - what more can a parent ask for?'" She said the good leadership of headteacher Julie Cornelius and the management team were "at the heart of the school's success." Ms Buller added the overall achievement by all pupils, including those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, was good and standards were well above average. "All staff are encouraged to contribute to school improvement and many successful initiatives are the product of the staff's enthusiasm or interests. The report added there was a very strong community spirit in the school and pupils "willingly help others both in school and in the wider world." Teaching and learning was also described as good with outstanding features and Ms Buller said: "Teachers know the pupils really well and work very effectively with support staff to ensure that the guidance and support that pupils receive is outstanding." The school was asked to ensure in all lessons pupils are clear about what it is they are required to learn. Councillor Alex Cunningham, Stockton Council's cabinet member for children and young people, said: "This is a great report for William Cassidi School, highlighting the outstanding level of care, support and guidance provided by all members of staff. "Pupils and parents are proud of the outstanding educational foundation the school provides and I look forward to seeing the school building upon the strengths highlighted in the report."
