Founded in 1977, Williams is a leading designer and manufacturer of motor racing cars. The team has competed in Formula One motor racing since 1978, achieving more than 100 Grand Prix wins all over the world. Not only has Williams won a record nine FIA Formula One World Constructors titles, its drivers have secured seven FIA Formula One World Drivers' Championships.

Formula One is one of the world's most watched events. At least part of every race is seen by a quarter of the world's population. More than 150,000 fans attend the races, and each race is viewed on television by more than 350 million fans. The new season begins in March 1999.
