OWEN Coyle Owen Columba Coyle (born July 14, 1966 in Paisley, Renfrewshire) is a Scottish-born footballer who played international football for the Republic of Ireland, and a football manager. He is currently player-manager of St. Johnstone in the Scottish Football League First Division.  last night led Burnley into the Premier League for the first time - and then claimed he was not interested in becoming Celtic boss.

Coyle was immediately installed as favourite with the bookies to succeed Gordon Strachan and he grew up idolising Celtic.

But the coveted Scot insists he is only thinking about managing the Clarets in the top flight against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.

"I didn't know there was a vacancy at Celtic," said the Burnley manager. "I had said my only focus is on doing the job. It's flattering that people mention your name, but I'm concentrating on the job here and long may that continue.

Wade Elliott scored the only goal at Wembley to end Burnley's 33-year top-flight exile - just 22 years after they came within 90 minutes of dropping out of the Premier League.

 Coyle celebrated the Clarets' historic triumph with a Coke and promised to give his play-off heroes a chance in the Premier League.

"We'll enjoy our night first and then look at it in the morning," he said. "The players will get their opportunity."
