CJP directs follow up report may be called from CS-GS within 2 weeks in Human Rights Case.

ISLAMABAD, October 14, 2009 (Frontier Star): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has directed that follow up report may be called from CS-GS with in two weeks in a Human Rights Case that follow up report may be called from PPO Punjab within fortnight. Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo moto notice on an application of Haji M. Ismail Memon, Advocate and member (HRCP) R/o District Thatta Sindh stating therein a story of two ill-fated families as disseminated through Mehran TV Channel that one Mithan Khaskheli R/o Badin having seven sons but all of them are blind, he lives hands to mouth. He took his son to hospital for their treatment but doctors demanded rupees one lac fifty thousand for treatment of each one. He brought his sons back to his home with out treatment as he could not afford heavy expenditure. Meanwhile he narrated another story telecasted by the same channel on 13th July 2009 showing the helplessness, weak ness and miseries of inhabitants of village of Muhammad Marwani suffering from serious skin diseases. He further prayed for justice to ill-fated families in accordance with law. The reports were called from Chief Secretary Sindh and Secretary HR, Govt. of Pakistan. Secretary HR, Govt. of Pakistan in his report stated that the above cases are not in preview of Article 09 CP 1973. CM Sindh can consider financial liability of treatment of affected families through Bait-ul-Mal or some other charities Organizations while Chief Secretary, Govt. of Sindh stated that DCO Badin has been directed to inquire in to matter and on receipt of the report action will be taken for providing all possible financial and medical assistance to said family.
