Builders with active building permits can fax requests to 291-1559. Requests must be made on city forms, available at the city's building and safety counter on the third floor of City Hall, 23290 Valencia Blvd.

Disabled get shot at basketball class

Physically disabled children and adults who want to improve their basketball playing skills can attend a city class to learn the basics.

The seven-week course, which will start Saturday, will be held at Arroyo Seco Junior High School Arroyo Seco Junior High School is a public junior high school in Saugus, California. Workshop in offing for percussionists

Percussionists who want to learn basic drum techniques can attend a free 10-week workshop that will encompass shakers, bells and whistles A slang English term for exceptional features in some product. ``The workshops offer an exciting learning experience for participants to learn the different sound textures and styles of percussion instruments,'' said Sean Morgan, the city's cultural arts coordinator.

The workshops are open to beginners and experienced drummers who will learn basic drum techniques and rhythms and how to play other percussion instruments.

Three win honors for recycling

Three Santa Clarita residents won awards for their recycling efforts.

Michael Demeo and Hayley Miller, both of Canyon Country, and Darlene Krupa of Saugus won the Silver Circle Recycling awards for the second quarter of 1996.

Each recipient received a $50 credit on his or her bill from the local waste hauler and a city certificate. Their names also will be engraved en·grave

The quarterly Silver Circle Recycling Award program is designed to reward single-family Santa Clarita residents for their continued recycling efforts to preserve the environment.

``Recycling is an easy way to protect and conserve the environment,'' said Jon Emerson, the city's waste management analyst. ``Under the mandate of AB 939, the city is required to divert 50 percent of its trash from the landfills by the year 2000. Practicing recycling methods can really make a difference.''

Santa Clarita offers teen ski excursion

Teen skiers who want to get a jump on the fresh powder left by the recent string of Pacific storms can take part in the city's ``Teen Ski Bash'' at Mountain High.

For $47, 12- to 17-year-olds can enjoy a full day of skiing at the resort, including transportation, supervision and lift tickets. Teens will meet at 5:30 a.m. at the City Hall parking lot, 23290 Valencia Blvd. Participants will return at 6:30 p.m.

Participants should take their own lunch and ski equipment. Only 35 people will be chosen on a first-co`me, first-served basis. Forms are available at the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department at Suite 120 at City Hall. The registration deadline is Feb. 7.
