Juventino Rauda, 30, of North Hollywood died at the scene of the 12:40 a.m. collision, said Officer Bill Mulvihill of the LAPD's Valley Traffic Division.

The Los Angeles Department of Animal Regulation truck, driven by Erwin Hugh Briefman, 31, was heading east on Burbank Boulevard when Rauda crossed the street at Fulcher Avenue, Mulvihill said.

``Apparently the pedestrian darted out in front of him,'' Mulvihill said.

Police didn't cite Briefman, and speed wasn't a factor in the crash, Mulvihill said.

A supervisor at the East Valley Animal Care and Control Center in North Hollywood refused to comment on the fatal crash.
