CITY TO HAND OUT FREE USED OIL RECYCLING KITS.Byline: Daily News SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country, -- The City of Santa Clarita will distribute free used oil recycling kits to residents at Charity Cruise Night beginning at 6 p.m. June 3 at Valencia AutoSpa in Valencia. The kits, funded by a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board, include a collection container, funnel, shop rag, filter bag, spill mat and tire gauge. The city is distributing the kits to increase participation in the curbside used oil and filter recycling program. Oil poured down drains or onto the ground can work its way into ground and surface waters, causing serious pollution problems.
