Special to the Daily News

The bad news for City Section girls' swimmers is they'll have to contend with Cleveland of Reseda's Tessa Chiu for another three years.

The good news for all the boys' swimmers is Wednesday marked the last time they would have to race against Michael Chiu.

The senior capped an exceptional career in brilliant fashion at the City finals at the AAF/John C. Argue Swim Stadium, leading off the Cavaliers' victorious 200-yard medley med·ley

"We have something special here, so it's kind of sad to see my part end," Chiu said. "But I know they'll keep it going after we're gone."

Chiu, who captured his third title in the 100 backstroke (53.65 seconds) and his first in the 100 free (48.47), was one of six seniors competing for Cleveland. Frederick Aquino, Efren Avila, Albert Han, Andrew Hyun and Renato Santiago all contributed valuable points for the Cavaliers, who also won the 200 free relay (1:35.43).

After rallying in the final event last season to defeat Palisades Palisades, cliffs along the west bank of the Hudson River, NE N.J. and SE N.Y., extending from N of Jersey City, N.J., to the vicinity of Piermont, N.Y., with a general altitude of from 350 ft to 550 ft (107–168 m).  of Pacific Palisades by three points, Cleveland didn't need to rely on any such heroics to repeat. Junior Ashkaun Hami defended his title in the 100 butterfly butterfly, any of a large group of insects found throughout most of the world; with the moths, they comprise the order Lepidoptera. "I think I felt more pressure than they did because everybody said we were supposed to win," said Cleveland coach Teresa Frias, who received 16 points from diving diving

Despite clocking a personal-best 4:43.85 in the 500 free, Baier's bid for a three-peat was denied by San Pedro's Alex Nelson (4:43.58).

Birmingham didn't win an event, but relied on 32 diving points to hold off San Pedro (1381/2) for second.

"I'm really happy for Cleveland and I'm definitely happy for Teresa. She deserves it," Birmingham coach Andrew Jones said.

"(Winning the breaststroke) was very important to me," Brown said. "I would've like to have gone faster but I didn't have anyone to push me."

Van Nuys junior Claudia Ochotorena enjoyed a three-peat in the 100 backstroke (59.83), but was upstaged in the 100 butterfly by Venice junior Andi Murez, who broke the City record to win in 57.40. Murez added a win in the 200 free (1:52.17).

"I knew I would probably have to break the City record to beat her," said Ochotorena, who clocked 59.40 in the fly. "But five titles is fine with me."
