The firm - which can be found at www.iii.co.uk - could have sold the 55 million shares on offer 26 times over.

And they surged 173 per cent to pounds 4.10 at one stage yesterday before closing at pounds 3.42.

This values it at a ludicrous pounds 557 million or 81,395 times earnings.

In other words, at the current rate it will take until the year 83,395 to make enough money to justify the share price.
