, the Parrots earned Ikeda his ring - a championship ring.

``What a great wedding present,'' Ikeda said. ``They got me a ring.''

Poly saved perhaps its best performance of the year for the last.

After cruising through the postseason without losing a single game, the top-ranked Parrots received a challenge when they faced the defending champion defending champion n (SPORT) → defensor/a m/f del título

``It's awesome, unreal.''

Whether it was Adina Mori's 45 assists, Gaby Gallardo's 13 kills, Rita Masrelian's 10 digs or Youssra Marjoua team-high five blocks, everyone contributed in the win which gave Poly its first section championship in any girls' sport.

``It's the greatest feeling in the world,'' Gallardo said. ``It's like nothing could stop you. There was a lot of pressure. But I had confidence and, in the end, everything came through.''

With Sylmar taking its time warming up, Poly quickly disposed of the Spartans in game one.

Sylmar opened the third game with its first lead of the night, 4-0, and put Poly in the unfamiliar position of losing. The Spartans dominated the entire game.

``We had a very slow start,'' Sylmar coach Bob Thomson Robert 'Bob' Thomson was an English footballer who played during the early 20th century, mainly prior to World War I.
