Because of Wells' mistake, the relay team, which entered the meet with the third-fastest time in the state at 41.42, was denied an opportunity to advance to the state tournament. ``We had a bad day on my part,'' said Wells, who crossed the finish line first before learning of the disqualification dis·qual·i·fi·ca·tion n. 1. Sprinter Jamere Holland ran a wind-legal 10.38 in the 100-meter dash, bettering his own mark of 10.40 for best time in the nation this season. Holland set the previous mark in March at the Pasadena Games. Since then he'd struggled to crack the 10.5 barrier, but his performance Thursday helped re-established him as the favorite for state.
