CITY SECTION ROUNDUP: BLUNT LEADS EAGLE ROCK TO 20TH STRAIGHT WIN.

Jelani Blunt ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to lead visiting Eagle Rock (8-0, 3-0) to a 28-15 victory against Marshall of Loz Feliz (5-3, 2-1) in a key Northern League game.

Eagle Rock won its 20th consecutive game and fifth straight over Marshall.

The Eagles scored on their first two possessions of the second half. Blunt (19 carries for 96 yards) scored on a 1-yard run to cap a nine-play, 83-yard drive.

Eagle Rock made a big defensive stop to set up its second score of the half. Marshall quarterback Obed Cervantes was sacked for a three-yard loss fourth-and-one at the Barristers 38-yard line.

Two plays later, Blunt connected with Sebastian Bowers (five receptions for 61yards) on a 29-yard scoring pass.

WEST VALLEY

Birmingham 56, Granada Hills 0: Milton Knox rushed for 107 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns as the host Patriots defeated Granada Hills.

The Patriots (7-1, 3-0) built a 42-0 halftime lead as the UCLA-bound Knox scored his second touchdown on a 52-yard run to put Birmingham up 14-0 with 3:30 left in the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Patriots scored on a four-play, 82-yard drive that took just 28 seconds and was culminated by Exavier Johnson's 29-yard touchdown pass to De'von Flournoy.

Taft 39, Cleveland 0: Justin Tryon and Oliver Johnson had interception returns of 15 and 75 yards for touchdowns as the Toreadors routed Cleveland of Reseda.

Sophomore running back D.J. Morgan scored three first half touchdowns and finished with 63 yards on nine carries. Marty Williams gained 88 yards on 10 carries including a six yard touchdown all in the second half for Taft (6-2, 4-0).

Cleveland (1-7, 0-4) was held to minus 29 yards rushing and three quarterbacks combined for only 4 of 28 passing for 70 yards.

Bam Goodall completed four of 12 passes for 87 yards for Taft.

Chatsworth 40, El Camino Real 28: Greg Jimenez threw three touchdown passes, all to Michael Locurto, to lead host Chatsworth (4-3, 2-1) to a West Valley League victory over El Camino Real of Woodland Hills (2-6, 0-3).

Jarrot Bell rushed for three touchdown passes for Chatsworth.

Jerrald Hines caught a 36-yard touchdown pass and also returned a fumble 58 yards for a touchdown for El Camino Real.

VALLEY MISSION

San Fernando 27, Kennedy 7: San Fernando limited Kennedy of Granada Hills (3-4, 2-1) to 147 yards on offense, including only 11 in the first half.

In moving into sole possession of first place, San Fernando (5-3, 3-0) also showcased its offensive skill behind Rashaad Reynolds and Deandre Thomas.

Reynolds was 6 of 11 for 126 yards passing and rushed 74 yards on 13 carries. Thomas rushed for 123 yards on 11 carries, including a 2-yard scoring run that gave San Fernando a 20-0 lead late in the third quarter.

Leon Jones finished with four catches and 101 yards for the Tigers.

Monroe 42, Sylmar 21: Five different Vikings scored six touchdowns as Monroe of North Hills (6-2, 2-1) defeated visiting Sylmar Spartans.

Germie Morrison rushed for 203 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, and senior running back Lazelle Allston scored two touchdowns while running for 102 yards on 11 carries. Sylmar (4-4, 1-2) made the game interesting with 7:34 remaining in the second quarter when Josh Pons scored on a 12-yard touchdown, knotting the game at 14.

But Monroe answered three plays later when Morrison escaped a pile-up at the line of scrimmage and ran 70 yards for a score.

Reseda 41, Panorama 6: Edgar Perez threw three touchdown passes to lead host Reseda (6-2, 1-2) over Panorama (3-5, 0-3) in a Valley Mission League game.

Perez threw touchdown passes to Oleg Gladchenko, Gamaliel Rodriquez and Mark Adebowale to give Reseda a 20-0 lead first quarter.

Reseda was led on the ground by Giovannie Dixon, who rushed for 118 yards before re-injuring his left ankle and having to leave the game.

Soule Chapman had two interceptions for Reseda.

Arleta 35, Verdugo Hills 14:

North Hollywood 38, Grant 17: Chris Lopez completed 14 of 16 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns to keep North Hollywood (6-3, 5-0) undefeated in Sunset Six league play.

Justin Rosemond caught seven passes for 142 yards including scoring passes of 57 and 17 yards.

Trezon Johnson rushed 28 times for 109 yards including a 2-yard score.

Euren Balbuena led Grant two receptions for 71 yards including a 47-yard touchdown pass from Armando Orozco (6 of 11 for 119 yards and an interception).
