CITY SECTION GOLF: GRANADA HILLS WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE.

Granada Hills bids for its sixth City Section golf title in seven years today when the Highlanders attempt to overcome Hamilton's two-stroke lead in the final round of the 36-hole City tournament at Wilson GC.

Granada Hills and defending City champ Chatsworth share second place at 411 behind the undefeated Yankees (409). Palisades Palisades, cliffs along the west bank of the Hudson River, NE N.J. and SE N.Y., extending from N of Jersey City, N.J., to the vicinity of Piermont, N.Y., with a general altitude of from 350 ft to 550 ft (107–168 m).  (414), San Pedro (418) and Birmingham (420) also are team-title contenders in a tournament that offers more than just section championships.

The two teams and top 10 individuals not on those two teams qualify for the June 8 Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Golf Association final. That competition, co-sponsored by the California Interscholastic Federation The California Interscholastic Federation (abbreviated CIF) is the governing body for high school sports in the state of California. Top individuals entering today's final round at Wilson include midway leader Scott Bashin of Birmingham (3-over-par 75), Chris Whitaker Chris Whitaker (born 19 October 1974) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He is a much acclaimed scrum-half for Leinster in Ireland. He previously played for the New South Wales Waratahs, a state team representing New South Wales in the Super 14.  of Palisades (76) and Tye Alexander of Palisades and Tom Mansuwan of El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

Birmingham's Keith Romar (78), and Kang Doo Kang Doo (Korean: 강두, born February 27, 1979) is a South Korean singer and actor. He is a former member of the group, The Jadu. He played the bass guitar and did backup vocals. Kang Doo is now replaced with a new member, Maru.  of San Pedro, Evan Lieb of Hamilton, Daniel Assael of Los Angeles CES and Kay Lee of Chatsworth (all 79) are also within reach of the individual section title.

Granada Hills coach Joe White likes the fact his team stayed close despite an average outing by senior captain and No. 1-man Darrin Schneider.

``I think if we can shoot 390 (today), we'll have a good chance to win,'' said White.

In other high school golf today, more than two dozen entries, representing 10 area leagues, shoot for berths in Thursday's Southern Section individual final.

Marmonte League champion Roy Moon of Royal, Westlake's J.T. Kohut, Notre Dame's Tommy Barber, Hart's Ryan Wyman and Flintridge Prep sophomore Jeff Osborn are among the top contenders for the 24 individual berths available in today's 74-player North regional at Santa Barbara's La Cumbre Country Club.

Crescenta Valley, led by freshman Pacific League champion John Park, plays in the Central region at Desert Willow CC, where 72 golfers will compete for 24 berths.

Regional qualifiers advance to Thursday's Southern Section final at Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs.
