CITY SECTION BOYS' BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS: 38-8 RUN CARRIES CLEVELAND.

Byline: Daily News

The Narbonne Narbonne (närbôn`), city (1990 pop. 47,086), Aude dept., S France, near the Mediterranean coast. It is the commercial center of a wine-growing region and an industrial city producing sulfur, copper, and clothing.  High of Harbor City boys' basketball team tried to stop Cleveland's Nick Young with double and triple teams Friday Friday: see Sabbath; week.

The sophomore scored a majority of his 15 points in the third quarter at Cleveland High in Reseda, keying a huge Cavaliers run in their 93-57 first-round victory in the City Section playoffs.

Duncan scored 13 points during an eight-minute stretch of the third quarter, when Cleveland used a 38-8 run to ruin any hopes Narbonne might have had of cutting into what was an 11-point halftime deficit.

``Corey is savvy,'' Cleveland coach Andre Chevalier said. ``I tend to forget he's a sophomore. He can makes things happen for us.''

So did Young, who despite the added attention - to which he's become accustomed - finished with 26 points and nine rebounds. Teammate Loren Leath added 20 points and seven rebounds.

``The good thing about our team is on any given night we have two or three guys who can score 20 and Nick can go for 40,'' Chevalier said. ``We're a deep team, but we need contributions from everyone.''

Fifth-seeded Cleveland (24-3) advances to the second round to face No. 4 host Fremont of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
