CITY SECTION: VERDUGO HILLS WINS FIRST TITLE SINCE 1980.

Verdugo Hills of Tujunga clinched its first Sunset Six League title since 1980, as Darren Hightower rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in a commanding 35-6 victory over host Hollywood.

Senior Bryce Freeman led Verdugo Hills (6-2,4-0) in receiving, catching five passes for two touchdowns and game-high 139 yards. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Dons, who can clinched after Canoga Park lost to North Hollywood.

Hollywood (3-6,1-3) scored its only points on a 4-yard run by Gyasi Rivers with 1.4 seconds remaining.

--North Hollywood 34, Canoga Park 21: Hamadicko Njimboa rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries to lead visiting North Hollywood (4-5, 3-1) over Canoga Park (6-3, 2-2).

Njimboa began the scoring on the first North Hollywood possession of the game with a 47-yard touchdown run and Chris Lopez followed with a four-yard touchdown pass to Antwum Baker to take a 14-0 lead.

Canoga Park responded in the second quarter as Jose Martinez capped an 11 play, 80-yard drive with a seven-yard touchdown run.

With 1:46 left in the first half, Winborn had a 1-yard touchdown run to give Grant (3-6, 2-2) a 26-0 lead.

Poly (1-8, 0-4) scored both its touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Just minutes into the fourth, Jesus Reyes scored on a 2-yard run. Five minutes later Andrew Rocha had a 3-yard scoring run.

Walker scored a touchdown in each of the four extra periods. After his fourth touchdown, Dennis Dickey intercepted a Glenn Cappola pass in the end zone on fourth down to clinch Clinch, river, c.300 mi (480 km) long, formed by the junction of two forks in SW Va., and flowing generally SW across E Tenn. to the Tennessee River at Kingston.  the victory for Chatsworth.

--Taft 42, Cleveland 7: Sophomore Exavier Johnson completed 18 of 28 passes for 272 yards and four touchdown as Taft of Woodland Hills (9-0, 4-0) rolled over host Cleveland of Reseda (4-5, 0-4).

Jamere Holland had 121 yards on six receptions, including a 45-yarder touchdown, to give Taft its margin of victory. Teammate Shelton Banks had 62 yards on six catches and two touchdowns.

Chris Martinez scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter for the Cavaliers.

--Birmingham 33, Granada Hills 14: Milton Knox Jr. rushed for 190 yards and had touchdown runs of 6, 1, 22 and 5 yards to lead host Birmingham (4-5, 3-1).

Willie Chandler had three receptions for 72 yards including a 32 yards touchdown pass from James Beloff. Beloff completed 8 of 14 passes for 158 yards and one touchdown.

--Eagle Rock 31, Wilson 14: Jeremy Camacho threw two touchdowns passes to Josh Jovanelly and V.J. Castanos rushed for two scores as host Eagle Rock (7-2, 4-1) built a 28-0 third-quarter lead.

Camacho completed 18 of 31 passes for 213 yards. Jovanelly had eight receptions for 92 yards and caught passes of 19 and 7 yards. Castanos, who sat last week's win over Lincoln with an ankle injury, rushed for a game-high 109 yards on 24 carries including scoring runs of 3 and 1 yards.
