Jasmin Dao beat out Granada Hills' returning No. 1 singles player to earn the spot herself as a ninth-grader in 1997. Ron Wood Ronald David "Ronnie" Wood (born June 1, 1947 in Hillingdon, London) is an English rock guitarist and bassist best known as a member of The Rolling Stones, Faces, and The Jeff Beck Group. , coach of the Highlanders girls' tennis team, envisioned big things from her and several other talented ninth-graders.

And, indeed, the group has reached great heights and could end their careers as Highlanders by achieving another first. Dao and fellow seniors Caryn Linder, Shannon Slotnick, Andrea Blieden and Jessica Lee Jessica Lee (born February 18 1975) is a model originally from Binghamton, New York. ``We were always good,'' Wood said. ``But all of a sudden these girls came in and we were really dominant.''

This year's seniors have lost just two matches in high school. The last loss came in the 1998 City final.

Slotnick and Linder teamed to win the City doubles title as juniors and are the No. 1 seed for this year's individual tournament. Blieden and Dao also earned first-team All-City honors while helping Granada Hills go undefeated last season.
