CITY SECTION: CHATSWORTH GETS LITTLE HELP IN DEFEAT.

Byline: Daily News

Shayna Stanley had 18 points, Romeka Randolph had 15 and Kimberly Gibson 13 as No. 2 seed Westchester beat Chatsworth 65-54 Wednesday in a City Championship Division girls' basketball quarterfinal quar·ter·fi·nal
adj.

 at Westchester.

The game was overshadowed by an official scorekeeper's error that awarded two points to Stanley on a basket by Chatsworth in the third quarter. In essence, the Chancellors went from five points down at 41-36 to nine points at 43-34, throwing everything into disarray dis·ar·ray
n.
1. A state of disorder; confusion.

2. Disorderly dress.

.

The referees went with the official book and, though the missed points didn't affect who ultimately won or lost, it did affect how Chatsworth (19-8) approached the final moments.

In fact, had the error been corrected, the Chancellors would have led 53-51 rather than trail 53-51 late in the game, thus changing their late- game tactics from a pressing team trying to come back to one looking to preserve a lead and run down the clock.

``It definitely changed how we did things late in the game,'' Chatsworth coach Racquel Alotis said.

Ashley Shelton had 17 points to lead Chatsworth. The Chancellors, who were seeded seventh, were coming off a 52-43 home victory over 10th-seeded Hamilton of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  in Friday's first round.
