CITY ROUNDUP: SYLMAR PITCHING PREVAILS.

 Westbrook had two hits, including a triple, to lead the Toreadors (10-15). Taft held a 2-1 fifth-inning lead before the No. 3-seeded Colts rallied for a playoff-opening win at home.

Westbrook drove in two runs, Danny Chavez contributed a double during Taft's two-run fifth and Wade checked Carson to four singles as the No. 14-seeded Toreadors concluded their season with a 10-15 record.

Chatsworth 8, Van Nuys 0: Junior Mike Kunes pitched a complete game, striking out six, and Matt Cassel hit a two-run home run to lead the No. 1-seeded Chancellors (26-3) past the visiting Wolves (16-15-1).

Bryan Gant went 3 for 3 and stole three bases, Matt Fisher had two hits and Danny Eisenberg and Scott Sellz each added a double for Chatsworth. Kunes improved to 11-1 with the win.

Chatsworth has a second-round meeting with Monroe, Tuesday at Chatsworth.

Banning 8, Cleveland 1: The No. 10-seeded Cavaliers (16-9) stranded 10 base runners in a playoff-opening loss at No. 7-seeded Banning.

In City 3-A playoff action:

Los Angeles 10, Eagle Rock 4: The host Romans capitalized on four unearned runs in the fifth inning to break open a playoff opener with the Eagles (8-14), who got doubles from Geronimo Real and Jerome Ray. Omar Iniquez (4-5) took the pitching loss in relief of Eagles starter Roy Griswald, who allowed two runs in four innings.
