CITY PLANS 2 HEARINGS ON FLAG-DISPLAY ISSUE.

GLENDALE - Two hearings will be held in coming months to give residents a chance to weigh in on how many flags The Many Flags campaign was an initiative by United States President Lyndon Johnson to get US allies in Asia and the Pacific to participate in the Vietnam War in support of South Vietnam.  they should be able to fly.

The City Council scheduled the hearings Tuesday, after they were presented with two possible ways to rewrite re·write

 the city code that regulates how many flags can be flown.

One option is to exempt all American and religious flags from the sign ordinance A law, statute, or regulation enacted by a Municipal Corporation.

 that allows businesses to fly or post no more than six signs, pennants or banners unless they obtain a permit.

The other alternative would be to exempt from provisions of the law any signs measuring 60 square feet or less.

The panel had decided to consider rewriting re·write

 the current law after a controversy erupted when city officials told a local gas station owner to take down 20 American flags.

The hearings will be held Feb. 12 and March 6.
