CITY HALL WINS AWARD AS TOP OFFICE BUILDING.

Buildings owners and managers from throughout the Southland have named Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  City Hall their Office Building of the Year.

The three-story building, constructed in 1987, was one of 17 finalists visited by the judges. The team looked at all areas of the building, including the janitorial closet and the waste-removal area, and at maintenance logs and other record keeping.

Also checked were the safety and functioning of the lobby and corridors, restrooms, elevators, stairwells, heating and air conditioning air conditioning, mechanical process for controlling the humidity, temperature, cleanliness, and circulation of air in buildings and rooms. Indoor air is conditioned and regulated to maintain the temperature-humidity ratio that is most comfortable and healthful. , tenants' suites and parking facilities. Judges also checked the roof and landscaping.

City offices occupy most of the Valencia Boulevard building, although much space is leased out. Doctors, dentists and other professionals occupy smaller suites.
