CITY FILES CHARGES AGAINST TELEMARKETING COMPANIES.

An investigation by a multiagency task force culminated Wednesday with criminal charges being filed against 24 people in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and Orange counties for allegedly operating telemarketing telemarketing, the practice of selling goods or services to customers by means of the telephone or of surveying consumer preferences in telephone conversations.  businesses without proper state licenses.

An employee at the company declined Wednesday to answer questions about the charges.

Facing eight charges each are Dandal Aubrey Dampier, 51, of Westchester and Valda Kathleen Ray, 50, of North Hollywood, operators of Media Capital Consultants.
