CITY FACES WILDFIRE THREAT.

With the prospect of a long, dry summer, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  city officials on Tuesday deployed a task force into areas expected to be the most vulnerable to brush fires in the coming months.

He is the first Latino mayor of Los Angeles since Cristobal Aguilar in 1872.  and the city Fire Department chief, Douglas Barry, announced that 40 firefighter crews will provide inspections and make recommendations to homeowners.

To help in inspections, the teams will have state-of-the-art technology to scan brush areas, to determine whether they are too close to property lines, and spot any potential dangers posed by grass or trees.
