CITY COUNCIL OKS SPEED LIMIT HIKES.Byline: Naush Boghossian Staff Writer GLENDALE- The City Council unanimously voted to raise the speed limit by five to 10 miles per hour on portions of 32 local streets to allow for effective speed enforcement by the police. The new speed limits are based on surveys that determined the speed at or below which 85 percent of the drivers in the speed sample were traveling - a rate considered safe and reasonable - and would allow officers to use radar or laser equipment to clock the speed of drivers and ticket them.
