Grant of Van Nuys took an all-to-familiar early exit from the City Section Championship bracket playoffs Thursday afternoon.

Grant (6-4) stopping the Cougars (10-0) in three plays on Crenshaw's first possession. But Crenshaw settled in and scored three touchdowns to take a 20-0 halftime lead.

Grant was unable to move the ball as Crenshaw shut down Anthony Dickson, the area's top sophomore running back. Dickson, who averaged about 140 yards rushing per game, was overmatched, including just four carries for minus-13 yards in the second half.

Grant quarterback Julius Roberts was 7 of 17 for 114 yards in the second half. He found Hector Bernal for a 47-yard play late in the third quarter to set up Grant's score - a 9-yard pass to Bernal.

``It is hard to go out this way on my senior year,'' Roberts said. ``(Crenshaw) did a good job to stop our running attack, so we decided to keep passing the ball.''

Jonathan Fonua, Adrian Luna and Ben Roman each recovered fumbles, and Carlos Mendez intercepted a pass for Grant.

 Joe Shumpert gained just 14 yards on 11 carries and lost two fumbles as the Chancellors (6-4) were routed at Westchester.

D.J. Amado scored the Chancellors' touchdown when he returned a fumble 77 yards in the fourth quarter. Greg Fullerton closed out the scoring with a 22-yard field goal with less than two minute remaining.

Westchester advances to the second round on Wednesday and will host Dorsey.

Franklin (7-3), champions of the Northern League, rallied from a 28-21 halftime deficit behind quarterback Narciso Diaz, who was 19 of 30 for 281 yards and three touchdown, but was sacked at the Fremont 31 as time expired.

Bradford scored the go-ahead touchdown with 8:21 left in the fourth quarter when he made a leaping catch on an Abe Escobar 15-yard pass on triple coverage. Milvon James clinched the victory with a 17-yard touchdown run with 1:13 left in the game.
