The Highlanders took a 14-point first-quarter lead, but poor tackling on defense and special teams allowed Carson to rally for a 35-28 victory in the first round of the City Section Championship playoffs at Carson High.

Third-seeded Carson (10-1) scored 28 consecutive points and advanced to face No. 5 Taft of Woodland Hills in the second round. The No. 13 Highlanders finished 6-3.

A poor Carson punt gave Granada Hills the ball at the Colts' 30 on its first possession, and the Highlanders scored seven plays later on a 1-yard run by Jermaine Bogle bo·gle
