CITY BEGINS FREE PARK CONCERT SERIES.

San Fernando (săn fərnăn`dō), city (1991 pop. 144,761), Buenos Aires prov., E Argentina. It is a district administrative center in the Greater Buenos Aires area.
 Recreation Park on Sunday evening for the first in a monthlong series of free concerts in the park.

The group El Chicano El Chicano is a Latin R&B/brown-eyed soul band from Los Angeles, California, whose influences can be found in rock, funk, soul, blues, jazz, and salsa. Original members included Bobby Espinosa, Freddie Sanchez, Mickey Lespron, Andre Baeza, and John De Luna.  was scheduled to kick off the annual summer concert series sponsored by the city of San Fernando.

Upcoming acts include Blue Rhythm Swing Orchestra on Aug. 4, Quetzal quetzal (kĕtsäl`) or quezal (kāsäl`), common name for a magnificent bird of the family Trogonidae (trogon family), found in the rain forests from S Mexico to Costa Rica at altitudes of up to 9,000  on Aug. 11, the Cuban group Maraca on Aug. 18 and Domingosiete on Aug. 25.

The concerts are held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Recreation Park, 208 Park Ave., in San Fernando.

City officials say the annual concert series gives the community a chance to relax while learning about music and the city's cultural history.
