CITY BASEBALL PLAYOFFS: KRACOW'S DOUBLE PUTS CHATSWORTH INTO SEMIFINALS.

Roosevelt High hit two late home runs to make the game a lot closer than Chatsworth wanted, but Steve Kracow's run-scoring double in the bottom of seventh rescued the No. 1 Chancellors 5-4 Thursday at Chatsworth.

Chatsworth (25-3) meets South Gate in the City Championship semifinals Tuesday.

Kracow's opposite-field hit off reliever Frank Arteaga (4-1) scored Matt Fisher. Kracow was 4 for 4 with two doubles, a triple and three RBI RBI

Kennedy 10, Banning 9: Alex Avlas drove in three runs, and Jeremy Serr hit a three-run homer to lead the Golden Cougars past the host Pilots.By knocking out second-seeded Banning, Kennedy (18-15) will play in its sixth straight City semifinal.

Kennedy led 10-3 entering the seventh and then had to hang on.

Banning scored six runs and had the potential tying run at first. Reliever J.C. Sepulveda ended the rally when he struck out Mario Barrera on a fastball.

Kennedy had 13 hits and handed Banning ace Rafael Sixtos (9-1) his only loss this season.

Avlas had three hits, including two doubles. Serr, who homered to center to give Kennedy a 6-0 lead in the third, also added a single and threw out a runner at the plate to end a Banning rally in the fourth.
