CITY ARTS POST OPEN APPLICATIONS BEING TAKEN.

Candidates are being sought for the city Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee, whose mission is to promote, support and develop arts and culture for the benefit of all who live and work in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. .

Interested parties are encouraged to apply for one of three positions from the following designated areas: One position representing professional artists, one position for independent artists and the third position representing the interests of the educational community for kindergarten kindergarten [Ger.,=garden of children], system of preschool education. Friedrich Froebel designed (1837) the kindergarten to provide an educational situation less formal than that of the elementary school but one in which children's creative play instincts would be  through 12th grade.

Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee members' terms of office are limited to a maximum of two three-year terms. While two of the current members have indicated interest in continuing to serve, the independent artist position is vacant.

The 11-member advisory committee works with the Cultural Affairs office on arts-related issues and makes policy recommendations to the City Council.
