CITY'S DEVELOPMENT CHIEF HIRED AWAY ROGERS TO JOIN LOS ANGELES COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORP.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  -- A well-respected Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  business advisory group has picked Carrie Rogers, Santa Clarita's economic development manager, to join its ranks.

Rogers, who was a project manager in Palmdale before landing in Santa Clarita in 2004, has been named vice president of business assistance and development with the nonprofit Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp.

 is one of the region's premier business leadership business organizations.

In her new post, Rogers, 48, will parlay her experience with Santa Clarita into attracting and retaining businesses for cities countywide. She will begin the new job May 7.

"A couple of things I'm the proudest of are securing the Enterprise Zone for Santa Clarita businesses for the next 15 years, developing a comprehensive marketing campaign to promote the city and building strong business relationships within the community," she said Friday.

Rogers was hired in September 2004 as Santa Clarita's economic development manager and oversaw the city's filming and tourism industries, redevelopment and economic growth.

Previously, she worked for the city of Palmdale for more than 10 years and was touted by the state for drawing big revenue there.

Her goals for Santa Clarita were to draw more upscale shopping and the big-box stores that residents now find just outside city limits.

The University is located in the city of Fullerton, California, in northern Orange County. , and a master's degree in public administration from California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an .
