Jamere Holland, the reigning 100-yard state champion in track and field, showed off his speed Friday night to lead Taft High of Woodland Hills in a 44-6 romp at Carson.

The senior receiver scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, part of a 23-point spurt in the final eight minutes of the quarter that started the Toreadors (2-0) toward victory.

Holland scored on a 10-yard reverse and on 32- and 7-yard receptions from sophomore Exavier Johnson, who completed 8 of 22 passes for 109 yards.

--Granada Hills 22, Garfield 6: Johnny Bottenfield completed just 5 of 15 passes, but two went for touchdowns as Granada Hills (2-0) topped host Garfield of East Los Angeles.

Bottenfield connected with Nick Webb on a 7-yard scoring pass and Josh Streid on a 7-yarder, and Kevin Smith scored on a 65-yard interception return late in the game.

--Cleveland 12, Reseda 7: Bubba Atkins returned two punts for touchdowns, and Cleveland of Reseda (2-0) held off a late rally to beat Reseda (0-2).

Atkins' 70-yard return midway through the fourth quarter erased a 7-6 deficit. Atkins also scored on a 63-yard return.

--Canoga Park 22, Monroe 0: Visiting Canoga Park limited Monroe of North Hills to 26 yards rushing en route to its first victory.

Vince Argott threw touchdown passes to Jose Martinez and Kyle Boas, and Davion Williams returning a fumble for a score, as the Hunters scored all their points in the first quarter.

--Jordan 20, El Camino Real 14: Jordan of Los Angeles (1-1) overcame a 14-point third-quarter deficit to defeat visiting El Camino Real (1-1) of Woodland Hills.

Carell Johnson, who ran for 135 yards on 11 carries, provided the winning score for the Bulldogs, romping 36 yards with 7:26 to play to erase a 14-12 ECR advantage.

--Gardena 41, Grant 20: The Panthers returned two interceptions and a punt for touchdowns, romping to a 20-0 halftime lead and holding off Grant of Van Nuys' second-half surge.

--Eagle Rock 28, Hamilton 20: The Eagles (3-0) overcame a 14-0 deficit and held on to win at Hamilton of Los Angeles (1-1). Jeremy Camacho came off the bench to complete 11 of 16 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns to lead Eagle Rock.

--Lincoln 48, Hollywood 6: Hollywood (2-1), winners of two in a row after 42 consecutive losses, committed five turnovers, managed just five first downs and was held to 87 total yards - 12 in the first half - in a loss at Lincoln of Lincoln Heights.

--San Fernando 34, Poly 7: Devoil Hicks rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries to lead San Fernando past visiting Poly of Sun Valley. Andre Garcia and freshman Stacey Richards, with a 57-yard interception return, also scored touchdowns for the Tigers.

--Fremont 42, North Hollywood 13: Jamal Sutherland rushed 15 times for for 245 yards and three touchdowns as Fremont of Los Angeles (2-1) dominated visiting North Hollywood.
