The Certified Information Technology Professional Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) is a Certified Public Accountant recognized for their technology expertise and unique ability to bridge the gap between business and technology.  is a CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000.  credentialed as a technology professional and recognized for his or her unique ability to bridge the gaps between business and technology. This special credential, unlike other certifications that recognize only a narrow scope of skills, is the mark of excellence for CPA business technologists who are leaders in industry, public practice, government and academia.

A CPA.CITP (Certified Information Technology Professional) A specialty credential awarded by the AICPA to its CPA members who excel in the provision of technology-related business services.  can play an integral part of business planning and forming IT strategies. Credential holders get a competitive advantage, enabling you to expand service offerings, grow your revenue and gain insight into other areas of a business.

If you are a CPA business technologist (and/or an employer who has CPA business technologists on staff in good standing as a member of the AICPA AICPA

See American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
 with an unrevoked CPA certificate issued by a state authority), you can qualify if you have the following additional training, experience or credentials:

* Attained 2,000 or more hours of business technology experience in the past 5 years; and

* Received 200 hours of technology education in the past 5 years.

OR,

* Have earned your Certified See certification.  Information Systems Auditor (CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) The award for successful completion of an examination in information systems audit, control and security from the Information Security Audit and Control Association. See ISACA. ) credential.
