CITIZENS SAVINGS APPROVES MERGER WITH CCB

 DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The members of Citizens Savings, SSB of Lenoir, N.C., at a special meeting of members held on Sept. 22, 1993, have approved a conversion/merger transaction with CCB Savings Bank of Lenoir, SSB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CCB Financial Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: CCBF). Of the total possible votes, 77.7 percent voted for the transaction while less than 2 percent voted against the transaction.
 George W. Kirby, president of Citizens Savings commented: "We are greatly pleased with the support shown by our membership in approving this transaction. We are looking forward to becoming affiliated with CCB Financial Corporation."
 E.C. Roessler, president of CCB Financial Corporation added: "We are looking forward with great anticipation to further becoming a part of the Lenoir and Caldwell County community. Citizens Savings is an excellent financial institution and we hope to continue the fine reputation it enjoys in providing financial services."
 It is anticipated that the transaction will be consummated early in the fourth quarter of 1993.
