Welcome to your latest northwest print edition of valleynews.com.

I'd like to start off by thanking all the wonderful citizen journalists that are responsible for making the valleynews.com operation function.

You trully are the backbone of our citizen journalism News and commentary from the public at large. Using wiki sites and blogs, anyone can contribute information about a current event. Also known as "collaborative citizen journalism" (CCJ), "grassroots media" and "personal publishing," the concept behind citizen journalism is that many  and community news project.

I want to congratulate those especially who before valleynews.com never really wrote or even used a computer, but didn't let minor details like those stand in their way when presented with the opportunity to share a story with the community.

In this edition, Northridge resident Yolanda Fintor shares a story of softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies'  moms and wives who switched roles from spectators to participants once they started playing volleyball volleyball, outdoor or indoor ball and net game played on a level court. An upright net, 3 ft (or 1 m) high, the top of which stands 8 ft (2.43 m) from the ground for men, 7 ft 4 1/8 in (2.  on an outdoor court.

Read on page 4 how over three decades later, their tradition of playing continues.

This next one is really a favorite. One of our newest citizen journalists, Nancy Spillman posted an important notice about Alex Padron, the new Senior Lead Officer for the Canoga Park Neighborhood Watch. Read about the upcoming neighborhood watch meeting on page 7.

Spillman was very happy to register to our Web site and even acquired her first e-mail account e-mail account ncuenta de correo  in the process.

As many users already know, photos are always welcome on valleynews.com.

Granda Hills resident Candi Beswick must have read my mind when she posted a picture of the thermometer thermometer, instrument for measuring temperature. Galileo and Sanctorius devised thermometers consisting essentially of a bulb with a tubular projection, the open end of which was immersed in a liquid.  in her backyard to prove a point about the extreme cold weather we were experiencing. Check out her cool photo on page 15 and think of ways you can get creative with the site.

Writers, write a story and share it. Photographers, post your best shots for the entire community to see.
