CITIES CREATING EVENTS FOR TEENS.

Starting in April, Agoura Hills and Westlake Westlake, city (1990 pop. 27,018), Cuyahoga co., NE Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland; inc. as a city 1956. A growing city, its various manufactures include ink and plastics.  Village will begin sponsoring monthly excursions and parties to keep teens active and out of trouble.

The first event in the Friday Night Live series will be a trip to Laser Craze in Agoura Hills.

``What we want to do is give them something to do the first Friday First Friday is a city-wide public event that occurs on the first Friday of every month. The events may take on many purposes, including art gallery openings and social networking.  of every month,'' said Ralph Bessard, a teen services specialist for both Agoura Hills and Westlake Village.

Members of the Agoura Hills Teen Advisory Committee, which is seeking new members, helped directors come up with events that might appeal to a wide range of people, Bessard said.

Laser Craze co-owner Tim Brockdorf said he opened the business in December 1996 specifically to give teens something fun to do.

``I had two teen-age kids at the time and there was nothing to do in Agoura,'' Brockdorf said.

So he and a son went to a business show and came up with the idea of a laser-tag facility.

``What we wanted to attract was the family entertainment,'' Brockdorf said.

The inaugural Friday Night Live event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. April 3 at Laser Craze, 30135 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills. Cost is $8, which includes a round of laser tag Laser tag is a team or individual sport where players attempt to score points by engaging targets, typically with a hand-held infrared-emitting targeting device. Infrared-sensitive targets are commonly worn by each player and are sometimes integrated within arena in which the game , a slice of pizza and unlimited soda.
