CITIBANK ANNOUNCES $181 MILLION ASSET-BACKED DEAL FOR BANAMEX

CITIBANK ANNOUNCES $181 MILLION ASSET-BACKED DEAL FOR BANAMEX
NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Citibank and Banco Nacional de Mexico, S.A. ("Banamex") formally signed today on the placement of a U.S. $181 million issue for the newly privatized bank, Mexico's largest financial institution. This subordinated issue raised funds for Banamex through the securitization of future credit card receivables due from Visa International and MasterCard International.
This is the second of such issues done by Citibank for Banamex. It was originated and structured by Citibank Mexico and Citibank's International Corporate Finance Division based on the strength of their earlier, and highly successful, 1990 transaction. The issue was placed privately with U.S. institutional investors through Citibank Securities Market Inc. and closed on Oct. 11.
