CITADEL IS FIRST CREDIT UNION TO GO LIVE WITH COMPLETE MAC SELF SERVICE BANKING MENU

WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Citadel Federal Credit Union in Thorndale, Pa., now features the newest self service banking products offered by MONEY ACCESS SERVICE INC. (MAC) at its branch there. Citadel will be the first MAC member credit union to offer the self service program (which is referred to in the electronic funds transfer industry as MACICON SERVICES), components of which are currently available at more than 13 financial institutions participating in the MAC network.
The MAC network self service products combine state-of-the-art check cashing with an extensive array of other services for seven-day/24-hour banking, a system which offers enhanced convenience and accessibility to a wider range of financial transactions. The component products include:
-- MAC Check Terminal -- Allows customers full availability of funds from checks that have been registered and that they receive regularly, such as payroll, government and dividend checks. After checks have been entered into the MAC check system, customers have the option of depositing, splitting or cashing the check to the penny.
-- MAC Info Terminal -- Functioning off a separate terminal, this service allows customers to track their accounts with precision, including balances and checks paid, and automatic transfers. Customers can perform loan qualification calculations, purchase certificates of deposit, place stop payments and receive detailed information on product offerings, such as rates and pricing.
-- Instant MAC Card Issuance -- Citadel has taken steps to make MC cards available to their members at the Thorndale office.
According to Citadel Federal Credit Union Executive Vice President Jeff March, Citadel has long been progressive in adopting new technology to better meet the needs of its members, and MAC self service banking exemplifies this stance. "In the fast-paced lifestyle of the '90s, any service or product that offers greater convenience is a powerful competitive tool," he said.
"We're very excited to see the MAC self service banking products implemented by one of our most successful credit union members in the area," said Michael L. Douglas, president and CEO of the MAC network. "We anticipate that Citadel will be the first of many credit unions to realize the benefits of this next stage in the evolution of the ATM industry."
Citadel Federal Credit Union, which has been operating in Chester County since 1937, currently serves 43,000 members and has more than $150 million in assets.
The MAC network currently has more than 1,450 participating financial institutions and 28 million cardholders in 16 states, primarily in the mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions. It is the top electronic funds transfer network in total switch transactions and a leading provider of point-of-sale services.
